Unfortunately, none of my pictures sold this weekend. But, this DOES NOT mean I am giving up!! Too many awesome things happened this weekend. I met great people, took great pictures, and maybe even made some new friends! I was surprised with a gift from a friend I look at like a father who paid my first year's dues into the local art guild. Thank you, Cowboy! With over 100 photos to sort through and work with, this project may take longer than originally planned. Please don't give up!! If you got my card over the weekend, please keep an eye on this site, my Facebook page, and my Twitter page (@MLStrickland, NOT Trxie13). I will be updating all 3 as much as I can. Thanks to my buddy Danny Sullivan for his help on another poaaible project, BTW. Looking forward to hearing from you, my friend!! Lastly, I want to take a moment to remind EVERYONE to BE SAFE. This picture was shared by my friend Jimmie Jean. As many of you know, Mercury Charlie was in a BAD wreck last night and was seriously injured. His Merc did not make it. So, please send Mercury Charlie love, prayers and well wishes with me!!! Until I post again, my wee hooligans!! Have fun, be careful, and always keep your eyes peeled!! You never know when you'll spot something cool!!
So, today I got many great photos at Beyersville SPJST hall and met some awesome people, too. I got my photos down to the Expo Center for the show tomorrow and Saturday. Unfortunately, due to lack of funds and some issues with Fred (my truck) I won't be out on Friday, but I WILL be out Saturday.
I had an interesting conversation with a friend last night who convinced me that, if this is really what I want to do.... I need to do it. I started asking myself why I do this. It wasn't a question of what purpose it serves so much as it was why I love it, why I am passionate about it. It's the legacy, the history, the artistry, the brotherhood and fellowship. I love good stories and these folks bring them. I think it's akin to my father being in the Single Action Shooters Society. As I drove away from the Hall, headed to the Expo Center to drop off my prints, I smiled. The beauty of the Blackland Prairies I now call home with twisting roads filled with gorgeous old cars was a moment of beauty. I (safely) grabbed my phone and snapped the pic you see, giddy that I was able to share even a glimpse of what I saw. Thanks to everyone who spoke with me today. I look forward to seeing you all again!! |
